They are known for their longevity and can be fertile for five years or more. That said, the better you care for them, the longer they will live and be fertile.

When it comes to seeds, first bought should be used first. Try to plant seeds within a year of purchase. Don’t hoard different varieties. Instead plant and then harvest seeds at the end of the growing season to use the following year. If you buy plants from a supplier, check the date on the packet. The package directions should indicate when the seeds were packed and should also give a deadline for when they should be used.

Store seeds in a dry and cool place.

What would you do without them?

Posted on September 4th, 2010 by admin

What would you do without them? Seriously, if every single battery of every single type were suddenly zapped out of every single thing that it operated, what would any of us do?

Laptop computers, without a doubt, are the lifeblood of many a businessperson today. Portable, convenient, they allow us to work on the run and do more business. Laptop batteries are essential to keep this resource working, as it should.

The precursor to the laptop as we know it today was introduced by IBM back in 1986 and was called ?The PC Convertible?. It weighed five and a half kilograms and cost around $3500.00.

As laptop computers have evolved, so too have laptop batteries.

? The first type of battery used in laptops was Nickel- Cadmium (NiCad). These can still be found in some older laptops. Their lifespan between recharges is about two hours, however, this decreases with each recharge. Also, if a NiCad laptop battery is charged for too long it may explode.

? The next type of laptop battery used was Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH).

The panels are

The panels are becoming more and more efficient at producing more energy.

3. The price may go down dramatically if contracts with China to produce the panels are put into place. Normally I don?t like our jobs going oversees to people who only get fractions of what the US worker makes but in this instance it will also create many jobs here to install the panels, sell them, warehouse them etc… Plus this is something the country needs I feel. Clean, renewable energy that makes us less reliable on foreign oil and gases.

Also, some companies are producing these new generation flexible solar energy panels that come in sheets and can be rolled up and then out onto surfaces. These may bring the cost way down and make the instalation much more easy and cost efficiant. Here is an article about this new product:

At what point will these three variables merge?

I predict in the next two to three years this industry will take off like so many of us were hoping it would many years ago.

People can act now, and many already are by buying and installing these solar panels.

Here’s why: * As a coach, you need

Posted on September 4th, 2010 by admin

Here’s why:

* As a coach, you need to connect with your clients and an ambiguous “we” doesn’t do that as well as a specific, responsible, personal “I.”

* When your prospect finds out that the “we” is really an “I,” you lose credibility and trust -you may lose the sale.

* People hire coaches for their individual expertise and proven track record. They want to hire an “I.”

* It’s easier to read web sites written in a conversational, one-to-one, personal format accomplished with an “I.”

Honesty is the best policy when it comes to representing your business on your web site.

You may use “we” when:

* You say “We will get back to you in 24-hours,” referring to you and your administrative staff.

* You are referring to you and your reader as in “We will tackle one main issue during each coaching session.”

Overall, using and disclosing an “I” will help you communicate more effectively on your web site.

But there is a bigger, deeper, hidden problem lurking.

—–> The bigger, deeper, hidden problem.

If you are worried about using “I” or “we,” there is a good chance you may have a bigger problem of not enough “you.”

By “you,” I’m referring to your web site visitor or prospective client or target market.

If there isn’t enough “you,” then your web site isn’t talking enough about the things the visitor cares about most – his or her problems, challenges, desires and goals.

And if you don’t talk about those things, it’s hard to get attention and convince prospects to take action like signing up for your newsletter or calling you for an appointment.

When you use a lot of “you”:

* Visitors will read more of your web site

* You will earn trust because visitors will feel you understand them

* It will get your visitor excited about your services

With a lot of “you,” your web site will attract more clients.

With a lot of “you,” the problem of “we” or “I” becomes much less important.

So what works?

Use “you” in most of your web site content to capture your visitor’s interest.

Shoptalk – Take control

Sexy suspenders or Spanx pants? At Violette Lingerie, in Yarm, demand appears to be for the latter. Ruth Addicott reports

WITH the arrival of autumn and the pressure to get the perfect bikini body now firmly behind us, women are turning their attention to more pressing matters, like Spanx pants.

When the taxi’s outside and you’ve got to get into that dress, there’s only one way to lose a stone in ten seconds and that’s with the help of some high-powered control pants. Thanks to Spanx, apparently, miracles do happen.

Shapewear or “magic knickers” as they are now known have become a fashion staple and sales at Violette Lingerie, in Yarm, are showing no sign of stopping. Push-up bras, suspenders and stockings may be sexy, but since the shop opened in May, it’s the Spanx pants that customers have been snapping up.

Violette specialises in lingerie and swimwear designed to flatter and enhance the figure. Offering everything from basic bras to the Miraclesuit, owner Lesley Kenneally has tried to source labels that aren’t found in the average department store and has deliberately chosen pieces that give a good fit. “I want to help women feel good about themselves, ” she says. “It’s no good falling in love with something if it’s not the right size. If your underwear fits better, it makes you look like you’ve lost a little bit of weight. The Spanx are flying out, they smooth out all the lumps and bumps.”

Lesley says customers are not only buying them, they are telling their friends. There is even a maternity range for women looking for more support as their tummies expand.

Sensible shapewear aside, Violette has a wide range of glamorous lingerie, from suspenders to made-to-measure corsets guaranteed to set any man’s pulse racing. The Lise Charmel range is among the best sellers, along with the Prima Donna and Marie Jo lines. Other favourites include Curvy Kate, Aubade and Passionata, with prices from [pounds]35.

“I’ve tried to find things that were a bit out of the ordinary and have a bit more about them, ” says Lesley.

With the majority of women in the UK wearing the wrong-sized bra, Lesley is encouraging customers to pop in for a free professional fitting. A former image consultant, she doesn’t use a tape measure like most department stores, she does it by sight.

The boutique also sells a selection of jewellery, accessories and nightwear, including Japanese kimonos ([pounds]89.95) imported from Kyoto, as well as swimwear. Look out for Miraclesuit, which has a built-in panel to pull in your tummy

Travel cover was not all it appeared to be

Travel cover was not all it appeared to be

0 Comments | Western Daily Press, Aug 30, 2010

In May this year, we attended a grandson’s wedding in America and, as I was over 80 and my wife and I both have medical conditions that need to be declared, we decided it would be wise to get help to arrange our travel insurance; this we did through a longestablished broker in Sherbor ne.

Our outward-bound flight was delayed for one day because of the volcanic dust cloud, and, during the overnight stay, I developed a medical condition that resulted in me being taken to hospital.

Fortunately, no significant problem was found, but by then we had missed the replacement flight and we were offered one the following day from a different airport. We eventually arrived in America and greatly enjoyed the event.

On arriving home, I tried to claim on the insurance for the extra hotel and associated costs but a letter from the company with which the business had been placed explained that “the incurred costs prior to your departure are not covered under the policy and the loss of one day of your holiday does not fall under the definition of curtailment in the policy”.

I was surprised at this response as the broker’s letter of confirmation stated “All needs met”. I carefully re-read the insurance policy and it became clear it was not true that all our needs had been met, and that the cover only commenced once we reached our destination.

I went back to the broker and complained about this omission, reminding them that I had approached them for travel insurance and that, especially at a time when flights were being disrupted, it was entirely unreasonable not to include cover for the outgoing journey.

I said that we had not received the professional service we expected and, although our emphasis had been on getting the appropriate level of medical cover, I had assumed that they would ensure that all other normal day-to-day risks were adequately covered.

The response was almost dismissive, and in reply to my visit and subsequent email, their director wrote to me saying that “The delayed departure and missed departure sections of the policy are the relevant sections where cover may have been available, but the insured events provided do not cover your particular circumstances”.

Finally he wrote: “We have most certainly provided you with professional advice and no travel policy will insure you for all eventualities.” Christopher Deavin Sherbourne, Dorset

People who market

Posted on September 3rd, 2010 by admin

People who market tend to associate with other marketers. If you run your business with integrity, you will be known as such, and people who respect integrity will send business your way. But if you don’t, believe me it will get around, and your name will be mud. Unless it already is mud, and then it’ll be something worse. Just don’t do it. Remember that it all comes back to you one way or another, sooner or later.

Golden Rule Number Seven: Be willing to deal positively with disappointments.
This actually goes well with other Golden Rules, but I think it’s important enough to be discussed separately. Life is full of disappointments – if you’re over the age of 12, you should already understand that.

Quality businesses, with extraordinary

Posted on September 3rd, 2010 by admin

Quality businesses, with
extraordinary growth potential, that are for sale, are like
the proverbial ?Diamond in the rough? or ?Needle in the
haystack? analogies ? it takes removal of tons of dirt and
mounds of hay to find what you seek!

In any proactive business acquisition pursuit, a seasoned
business buyer will tell you that finding viable companies
that can be purchased for reasonable terms is a ?number?s
game?. Thousands of company candidates, that lead to hundreds
of contacts, which lead to ten?s of acquisition conversations,
that hopefully lead to one company purchase!

Going into any business acquisition effort, knowing what it
takes to find and eventually secure a business purchase deal
has a dramatic affect on the definition and your eventual
allegiance to your business purchase criteria. If your
purchase criteria are too ?tight? and your commitment too
rigid to that criteria, you may quickly feel you?ll never find
your ?ideal? company to buy!

Absolutely, Unquestionably, No Brainer, ?Deal Killers?

Attempting to find and qualify businesses to buy is an
iterative and complex process.
